Physical Therapist Assistant (Outpatient) Mesquite, TX
An Outpatient Physical Therapist Assistant role is available in Mesquite, Texas. The position supports the Physical Therapist by assisting with therapeutic interventions and treatment plans to help patients work toward long-term goals. Candidates are required to bring their license on the first day.
Job Details
- Schedule: Days shift; 8 hours per shift; minimum 40 hours per week
- Required Qualifications: Degree in Physical Therapy from an accredited school; CPR Certification; active/applicable state license where work will be performed (as required by the state); CAPTE Certified; 1+ year of outpatient clinical experience
- Preferred Qualifications: Has this employee successfully completed an assignment with your agency previously
- Responsibilities:
- Assist the Physical Therapist in implementing treatment goals, plans, and programs
- Support therapeutic interventions including posture training, strengthening, endurance/cardiac training, balance exercises, coordination, joint mobility, muscle lengthening, pain relief, functional skills training, and community re-entry training
- Train patients in locomotion using orthotics, prosthetics, or assistive devices (such as canes, crutches, walkers, and wheelchairs), demonstrating gait/belt use and proper safety awareness
- Order and instruct patients on the use of prescribed equipment
- Demonstrate and support modalities, including whirlpools, hot/cold packs, paraffin bath, therapeutic modalities as appropriate, therapeutic pool, ultrasound, iontophoresis, fluidotherapy, and air splints (as applicable to clinic needs)
- Monitor patient response and intervene as necessary
- Use equipment safely; report malfunctioning or missing equipment; identify and recommend equipment for purchase
- Document patient progress and response to treatment, and support patient and family education regarding participation and good body mechanics
- Maintain professional and ethical working relationships with patients and staff; participate in team conferences and special projects as requested
- Follow clinic policies, procedures, and regulations, including safety and infection control guidelines, and maintain a clean treatment area
- Perform additional duties as assigned
