Description
Job Summary:
A Respiratory Therapist (RRT) position is available in an acute care hospital located in Springfield, Illinois. The role involves providing critical respiratory care to adult patients in the emergency department, including procedures such as airway management, ventilator management, and related skills. Candidates are required to bring their Illinois license on the first day. The position offers a schedule of either three 12-hour nights shifts or four 12-hour shifts per week, starting on 07/20/2026.
Job Details:
- Location: Springfield, IL
- Shift Schedule: 3x12 Nights or 4x12s (1800-0630); minimum 36 hours per week
- Required Qualifications: Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) and registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT); active Illinois license in hand at submission; minimum 1 year of experience in adult critical care and emergency department settings; Cerner charting system experience; graduation from a recognized program.
- Preferred Qualifications: Teaching hospital experience, community hospital experience, and trauma level I and II experience are preferred.
- Clinical Skills: Endotracheal tube management, suctioning, airway placement, sputum collection, tracheostomy care, use of oxygen therapy devices such as High Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC), ventilator troubleshooting and weaning, BiPAP, CPAP, and emergency airway management.
- Additional Information: Candidates must submit 2-3 interview times upon application, including SSN and date of birth. All certifications must be current; only American Heart Association (AHA) and Red Cross certifications are accepted. The candidate must have a minimum of 18 months of unit-specific experience unless otherwise indicated. Floating within the hospital or nearby affiliate sites is required. For non-licensed roles, arrival three business days prior to start for fingerprinting is necessary. Locals are accepted for all units except OR RN, where the candidate must be at least 50 miles away from the facility. The flu vaccine is mandatory, with medical or religious exemptions only.
