Description
Mammography Technologist (MAMMO) North Bergen, NJ
The Mammography Technologist performs mammography examinations in accordance with ACR requirements. This role also assists with breast ultrasound, stereotactic biopsy, breast localization, and other radiologic guided procedures. Candidates are required to bring their license on the first day.
Job Details
- Schedule: Day shift; training will be 7:00 AM3:30 PM or 9:00 AM5:00 PM, and 40 hours per week.
- Required Qualifications: Radiologic technologist licensure; must have active Diagnostic Radiography License; must have ARRT; high school diploma or equivalent; graduate of an AMA approved School of Radiologic Technology; mammography-specific certification; breast imaging competencies.
- Preferred Qualifications: 5 years of experience is preferred.
- Additional Information:
- Performs diagnostic and screening mammographic examinations on adult, adolescent, and geriatric patients in an expedient and professional manner.
- Assists with procedures using ultrasound guidance and supports mammographic imaging for breast needle localization and stereotactic procedures, including setup and cleanup.
- Provides immobilization devices, selects proper technical factors based on patient needs, and operates equipment for specific procedures.
- Identifies patient films correctly (name, x-ray number, and side marking) and initials all films; develops exposed x-ray film using processing methods.
- Assists with quality control procedures and documentation for mammography in compliance with ACR, MQSA, NJ State, and FDA, as delegated.
- Assists with breast-related patient education, including pre- and post-procedure instructions.
- Prepares cases to be imaged, including charts and films, and assists with compiling relevant statistics as assigned.
- Documents procedures for quality control and quality assurance, and records pertinent information in the Breast Center chart.
- Adapts communication and care to patient needs, including age, culture, language, and sensory impairment, and communicates with patients, parents, and/or primary caregivers at the appropriate level.
- Performs other duties and/or projects as assigned.
