Description
Job Summary: Xray Technologist, Radiologic Technology Detroit, Michigan. Performs radiologic procedures for evaluation of pathological entities as ordered by a physician, working under the direction of a radiologist. Utilizes independent judgment in selecting appropriate radiographic techniques, positioning, and radiation safety practices. Candidates are required to bring their license on the first day.
Job Details:
- Schedule: Rotating shift time: 1:00 PM11:30 PM; every other weekend, with a minimum of 40 hours per week.
- Required Qualifications: High School Diploma or G.E.D. equivalent; maintain required hours of continued education; registered in Radiography with the American Registry of Radiologic Technology (ARRT) or registry eligible (if registry eligible, registration must be obtained within 6 months of hire); Healthcare Provider certification (Basic Life Support (BLS)); excellent computer skills; strong patient preparation; clinical data review; anatomical structure analysis; core customer service responsibilities and related standards/behaviors; ability to communicate effectively and demonstrate ownership, teamwork, respect for diversity, and excellence.
- Preferred Qualifications: Prior Operating Room (OR) experience; orthopedic (Ortho), neurologic (neuro), and vascular experience.
- Additional Information: Reviews clinical data on requisition and obtains additional patient medical history as needed; explains examination procedures to patients and prepares patients for examinations; prepares procedure rooms and replenishes stock and supplies; performs imaging procedures using radiation protection and ALARA (as low as reasonably achievable) practices, including proper shielding and equipment setup; may select and administer intravenous contrast media and monitors for possible reactions, providing immediate care as appropriate; follows infection control practices and ensures adequate supplies are on hand and properly stored; completes required work sheets, logs, patient records, and documentation; resolves image exceptions and ensures high-quality image delivery into the Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS), including viewing images and confirming image/series counts; completes study indexing and documentation in the Radiology Information System (RIS); reviews and confirms study protocols as necessary with the radiologist prior to performing the study; may teach and educate new hires and students while maintaining responsibilities; demonstrates consistent team member standards, including AIDET, open communication, timely responsiveness, positive attitude, innovation, and respect for diversity.
