EEG Technologist Registered (EEG) Naples, Florida
The EEG Technologist Registered provides EEG testing services across outpatient, inpatient, emergency, and intra-operative settings, including routine, continuous, and stat inpatient EEG. This role also includes conducting Evoked Potential testing (including VER, SSEP, and BAER) and supporting additional neuro-diagnostic procedures as needed. Candidates are required to bring their license on the first day of employment.

Job Details

  • Schedule: Monday through Friday (7:00 AM3:30 PM) with a minimum of 40 hours per week.
  • Required Qualifications: Registered by ABRET in EEG (R.EEG.T); graduate of an accredited School of Electroencephalography approved by CAAHEP; Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required from the American Red Cross or American Heart Association; intermediate computer knowledge using Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Windows; EPIC experience is required (completion of an EPIC assessment will be required on the first day of assignment); minimum 2 years of previous experience in neuro-diagnostics; ability to serve all age populations (infant, pediatric, and adult).
  • Preferred Qualifications: Bachelors degree preferred; additional ABRET certifications preferred (including CNIM, R.EPT., CLTM, CAP, CMEG, NA-CLTM, R.NCS.T., CNIM-CS, RPSGT).
  • Performs various types of testing in the department and in inpatient, emergency, and operating room settings, including setup and monitoring of routine (basic) EEG testing, ambulatory EEG monitoring, intra-operative monitoring, nerve conduction studies, assistance with EMG testing, SSEP, AAER, and VER testing, and other testing as requested.
  • Performs on-call responsibilities and adheres to department policies regarding time requirements for STAT procedures and after-hours response.
  • Acquires patient neurological tracings and patient data while eliminating artifacts, annotating interactions, and applying appropriate comments and key events during the monitoring process.
  • Identifies various types of waveforms correlating with monitored areas to adjust and maintain proper management and monitoring for different procedure types and to assist the reading physician in interpretation.
  • Communicates any potential abnormal studies or results to the reading physician or surgeon during testing or upon completion and ensures transfer of the record to support patient safety and accurate identification of potentially harmful or catastrophic events.
  • Participates in orientation, training, competency assessment, and supervision of EEG Technologists, and provides education to other healthcare personnel to assure knowledge of testing requirements.
  • Maintains infection prevention and equipment cleanliness standards, including electrode disinfection and a clean work environment.
  • Calibrates diagnostic equipment according to manufacturer recommendations and procedural expectations, including knowledge and proficiency with the international 10/20 system for electrode placement.
  • Completes documentation in the electronic medical record, files and edits records as appropriate for testing procedures, ensures records are communicated to reading neurologists, and maintains archiving of records in accordance with policy.
  • Orders required supplies to support availability for all patient testing and assists in identifying operational and capital equipment needs; evaluates new products, services, and equipment.
  • Coordinates with information systems and equipment manufacturers as necessary for troubleshooting, upgrade completion, documentation, and other departmental needs.
