Description
Job Summary: MRI Technologist Brookfield, Connecticut
A MRI Technologist is responsible for patient safety and the performance of high-quality MR studies at a healthcare facility. The role operates imaging equipment to produce diagnostic images, communicates effectively with patients and radiologists as needed, and troubleshoots scanner and related equipment to help ensure timely patient care. Candidates are required to bring their license on the first day.
Job Details:
- Schedule: Monday to Friday; 8 hour days; minimum 40 hours per week
- Required Qualifications: High school diploma or GED (associates degree or equivalent experience preferred); American Heart Association Basic Life Support (AHA BLS) certification; American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) (MR) certification; Connecticut radiology license (required to administer contrast in Connecticut); proficiency running advanced MR studies independently; demonstrated ability to work in a self-directed environment; demonstrated patient care skills with the ability to explain complex medical terms and procedures in a manner easily understood by a non-medical audience; as applicable, valid state drivers license; Siemens 1.5 Espree equipment experience
- Preferred Qualifications: Minimum of 1 year of MR experience in high-volume environments; associates degree or equivalent experience
- Additional Information: Trains new technologists and/or patient coordinators in some instances. Conducts patient interviews to explain MRI procedures and addresses patient concerns. Performs patient safety pre-screening for contraindications and supports aseptic injection technique as applicable. Communicates effectively with customers and/or radiologists. Troubleshoots the scanner and peripheral equipment (including monitors, PACS, and coils) and escalates complex issues to appropriate imaging leadership and support teams as needed. Local travel may be required.
