Job Summary:
The Pathology Assistant position is located in San Francisco, California. This role involves integrating knowledge, theory, and practice to execute procedures in a high-volume acute care hospital laboratory setting. The laboratory expert will assist with gross dissection, specimen handling, and various post-mortem examinations, working cooperatively within the laboratory team to facilitate accurate testing and reporting to support patient care.

Job Details:

• Schedule: Evening shifts, 8 hours per shift, with a minimum of 40 hours per week.
• Required Qualifications: Valid Pathologists' Assistant (PA) certification from the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP); relevant educational background; eligible for California licensure; 2 years of experience in a hospital setting preferred.
• Preferred Qualifications: Experience with gross dissection in an acute hospital environment; familiarity with complex specimen processing; knowledge of intra-procedural consultations including frozen sectioning and gross examinations; proficiency with grossing specimens in an acute hospital setting.
• Additional Information: The role involves complex specimen grossing, tissue management, and post-mortem procedures. The candidate will be responsible for specimen documentation, troubleshooting, and ensuring compliance with laboratory policies. Orientation hours are 16, and all compliance documentation must be completed by specified deadlines.
