Description
Job Summary:
Respiratory Therapist Registered (RT PEDS) in Newark, Ohio. This 13-week assignment involves providing specialized pediatric respiratory care within a healthcare facility. The position requires delivering intensive respiratory treatments, assessing patient needs, and collaborating with medical staff to ensure optimal outcomes for pediatric patients.
Job Details:
- Schedule: Days shift, 12 hours per shift, minimum of 36 hours per week
- Required Qualifications: Certifications in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS). Valid respiratory therapy license. One or more years of experience as a respiratory therapist, preferably with pediatric specialization. Must be located within or willing to commute to Newark, Ohio.
- Preferred Qualifications: Experience working in pediatric respiratory care and familiarity with invasive and non-invasive ventilatory equipment. Knowledge of pulmonary function studies and procedures such as bronchoscopy and chest tube placement.
- Conducts physician-prescribed respiratory treatments, operating ventilatory equipment and various oxygen and aerosol delivery devices.
- Performs bedside assessments including chest x-ray review, EKG, and arrhythmia recognition.
- Assists with respiratory procedures such as bronchoscopy, chest tube placement, tracheostomy care, and arterial puncture.
- Follows all policies related to laboratory testing, quality control, and infection control protocols.
- Performs CPR according to BLS and ACLS guidelines.
- Operates, maintains, and monitors mechanical ventilatory equipment, documenting treatments and responses accordingly.
- Communicates effectively with physicians regarding patient therapy and shift hand-offs.
- Completes accurate respiratory care charging and data entry.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
