Description

Job Summary:
Respiratory Therapist Registered (RT PEDS) specializing in pediatric and neonatal care is needed at a critical access hospital located in Oregon. This role involves providing critical respiratory treatments and managing ventilator devices across the entire hospital. The position requires adaptability to variable shifts, independent work, and strong prioritization skills to ensure high-quality patient care.

Job Details:

  • Shift: Nights, 12-hour shifts, with a minimum of 36 hours per week.
  • Certifications: ACLS (AHA), BLS (AHA), NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program), Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) via NBRC. The candidate must hold a Oregon license to submit.
  • Experience or 'Must have' skills: A minimum of 2 years' experience, including proficiency with bubble continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP), arterial blood gases (ABGs), ventilator, BiPAP, and CPAP management on newborns.
  • Responsibilities: Performing breathing treatments such as vent, BiPAP, CPAP, bubble CPAP on neonates, administering breathing treatments, ECGs, ABGs, and assisting with intubation (assist only).
  • Coverage: The role encompasses the entire hospital, mainly focusing on the Emergency Department, Medical/Surgical units, and Critical Care Units.
  • Additional notes: The ability to move quickly and prioritize effectively is essential. Staff walk approximately 6-8 miles during a shift, so physical stamina and teamwork are critical. RTs are responsible for daily shift checks, procedures, and billing. The hospital has a hospitalist on site, with an average of 1-2 vent days per month, currently running 5-7 vent days per month.
