Description
Job Summary:
Respiratory Therapist Registered (RT PEDS) position in Bethel, Alaska. This role involves providing comprehensive cardiopulmonary services to patients of all ages, ensuring respectful and dignified care. It requires supporting patient recovery through technical expertise and collaborative problem-solving.
Job Details:
- Schedule: Days shift, 8 hours per day, minimum of 32 hours per week.
- Required Qualifications: Graduate of an AMA-accredited Respiratory Therapy program or equivalent, approved by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC), with an Associate of Science Degree; at least one year of clinical experience in respiratory treatment of hospital patients; Pediatric patient experience highly preferred; NRP certification a plus; holds NBRC credentials, CRTT, CRT, RT, or RRT; BLS certification, with ACLS and PALS encouraged.
- Specialized Knowledge and Skills: Ability to read and interpret physicians' orders, manuals, and policies; effectively communicate with physicians, management, and patients; explain respiratory treatments; determine when interpreter services are necessary; accurately document therapies and assist with procedure revisions.
- Mathematical Skills: Capable of basic calculations, rates, ratios, percentages, and graph interpretation.
- Reasoning Abilities: Skilled in problem-solving, data collection, and interpreting technical instructions.
- Cardiopulmonary Technical Skills: Proficiency in airway management, CPR, intubation assistance, ventilator operation, ABG procurement and analysis, chest physiotherapy, suctioning, sample procurement, respiratory medications, and pulmonary function testing.
- Equipment/Tools: Adult, pediatric, and infant ventilators, bag-valve masks, pulse oximeters, suction equipment, oxygen cylinders, nebulizers, supplemental oxygen devices, pulmonary function equipment, treadmill/stress testing equipment, EKG machines, Holter and event monitors, ISTAT arterial blood gas analyzers.
- Additional Information: Orientation begins on a Tuesday, with guaranteed hours commencing afterward. All travelers are required to show proof of completed COVID-19 vaccinations. Starting date: 08/31/2026.
