Description

Job Summary:
The Detroit-based Radiation Therapist (RTT) is responsible for safely administering ionizing radiation treatments to patients undergoing therapy for cancer or other medical conditions requiring radiation. This role involves operating treatment machines, positioning patients accurately, verifying radiation prescriptions, and documenting treatment details, all while adhering to safety and quality assurance protocols. The position offers an opportunity to work closely with a dedicated team in a clinical environment committed to patient care and safety.

Job Details:

  • Certifications, Education Requirements, Degree Requirements, Location Requirements, and Years of Experience: ARRT - Radiation Therapy Certification or registry eligible; Bachelor's Degree preferred; 0 years minimum experience required.
  • Schedule: Monday through Friday, 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM, 8 hours per day, minimum of 40 hours per week.
  • Required Qualifications: Operation of HDR machine, patient positioning, use of immobilization devices, operation of linear accelerator, radiation administration, patient marking localization, radiation prescription verification, patient chart documentation.
  • Preferred Qualifications: Customer service values, acceptance and respect for diversity, imaging procedures, quality assurance adherence, teaching radiation therapy students, self-direction, flexibility, teamwork, initiative, willingness to learn, openness to new learning experiences.
  • Additional Information: The role involves treatment delivery using True Beams technology, working on Varian and Aria systems, with no on-call duties and no weekends. The team typically includes one or two other individuals working shifts. The position requires adherence to safety procedures to minimize radiation exposure, and includes responsibilities such as patient education, assisting with appointments, and maintaining treatment rooms.
