Job Summary
Springfield, Missouri Pharmacist Inpatient. This hospital-based position involves overseeing pharmacy operations within an acute care setting, primarily coordinating medication verification processes, checking medication kits, crash carts, and prepackaged items. The role requires managing workflow in the central pharmacy and ensuring proper medication distribution and stock management.
Job Details
- Shift: Evenings, 2:30 PM 10:00 PM, 7-on/7-off Thursday through Wednesday (schedule may vary; hours are met weekly)
- Schedule: Evenings, 1430-0100, 36 hours per week
- Required Qualifications: Missouri Pharmacist Licensure; BLS from American Heart Association; 1 year of experience; new graduates will be considered; location in Springfield, MO; shift hours 12 hours
- Preferred Qualifications: None specified
- Float: Float rotation may be required
- Additional Information: Use EPIC dispense preparation to verify and check medications, kits, crash carts, prepack items, and other supplies as needed. The position is open due to FMLA coverages overlapping this winter, with a high likelihood of extension beyond 13 weeks contingent on performance. Training duration is approximately 2-3 weeks, depending on the pharmacist's capability. Daily responsibilities include coordinating workflow, verifying medication products such as IVs, premade IVs, creams, and insulin pens, and ensuring code carts are properly restocked. The central pharmacy staff includes 5 pharmacists and 10 technicians on day shifts and 2 pharmacists with 5-6 technicians on evening shifts, with the pharmacist serving as the primary overseer of pharmacy operations during their shift. The role requires onsite presence and oversight of pharmacy technicians, directing workflow as needed.
