Description

Job Summary:
Respiratory Therapist (RT) Pediatric (PEDS) Madison, WI
This is a 36-hour per week assignment working primarily day and evening shifts with 12-hour shifts scheduled at various times. The role involves providing respiratory therapy services to pediatric and adult patients at a Level 1 Trauma Center, collaborating with an interdisciplinary team to ensure high-quality patient care. The position requires flexibility to float as needed and participation in on-call shifts every six weeks.

Job Details:

  • Schedule: 12-hour shifts, with an average of 36 hours per week, including every other weekend rotations and two holidays during the winter months.
  • Required Qualifications: Valid Wisconsin Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) license, NBRC Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential, Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA), two years of minimum experience as a staff therapist, pediatric and adult respiratory care experience preferred, COARC-accredited respiratory therapy education.
  • Preferred Qualifications: Pediatric and adult patient care experience, previous experience working in an ICU or IMC setting, familiarity with charting systems such as Epic, and experience with critical care procedures.
  • Responsibilities: Administer aerosolized medications, manage mechanical ventilation including high flow and invasive modalities, perform airway clearance techniques, collaborate with physicians and healthcare team members to develop patient care plans, and handle special equipment such as ventilators, nebulizers, and humidifiers.
  • Additional Information: Floating to different units may be required. The facility is ranked Wisconsin's #1 hospital and is a designated Magnet hospital. Travel through the Wisconsin state area is required, with minimum experience in inpatient acute care. Strict pass/fail telemetry interpretation exams (adult and pediatric) are required prior to start, with two attempts allowed for passing.
