Job Summary
Pathology Assistant (PA) in West Virginia. This position involves supporting anatomic pathology gross room operations across multiple locations, including handling and grossing tissue specimens, with duties that may vary in complexity. The role requires certification as a Pathologists' Assistant by the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) and offers an opportunity to work in a dynamic academic medical center environment.

Job Details

Location: 1 Medical Center Drive, Morgantown, West Virginia, 26505
Schedule: Dayshift with start times between 07:30 AM and 08:00 AM; 8 hours per shift; minimum of 40 hours per week
Required Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree, Certification as a Pathologists' Assistant by ASCP, at least 1 year of experience in pathology grossing, ASCP certification, and experience with Epic Beaker Anatomic Pathology system
Preferred Qualifications: Experience in academic medical center and with voice recognition programs like Epic Beaker AP
Experience or Skills: Ability to gross simple and complex tissue specimens, handling and cutting approximately 5-10 frozens per day, familiarity with cryostat, bone saw, scalpels/knives, and Epic LIS system
Additional Information: The position may be based at one of three gross room locations: Main Ruby, Children's, or Innovation Corporation (opening 07/27). The department handles approximately 160 cases and 700 blocks daily, with varying case complexities. Training will be provided by current Pathologists' Assistants. No weekend, holiday, or call responsibilities required.
