Description
Job Summary:
Pharmacist Inpatient position located in Sitka, Alaska. This role involves working within the pharmacy department to ensure safe, effective, and cost-efficient drug therapy for patients. The pharmacist will provide medication dispensing, patient counseling, medication management, and clinical consultations to support optimal patient outcomes. The position requires independent judgment and professional expertise to support healthcare delivery in a hospital or ambulatory clinic setting.
Job Details:
- Schedule: Days shift, 10 hours per day, minimum of 40 hours per week
- Required Qualifications: Alaska licensure as a registered pharmacist; Pharm.D. degree; completion of a nationally recognized pharmacy residency program preferred; candidates licensed prior to 2003 with a Bachelor of Pharmacy degree will be considered with 3 years of hospital and/or outpatient pharmacy experience; Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers certification; ability to review patient histories, labs, and medication orders; knowledge of state and federal pharmacy laws; excellent communication skills and computer proficiency; math skills for dosage calculations; ability to work independently and as part of a team; minimum of 0 years of experience
- Preferred Qualifications: Experience in hospital or ambulatory pharmacy; pharmacy residency training; certification in Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers
- Additional Information: The position functions to review prescriptions for appropriateness, safety, and legality, providing clinical consultation and documentation. The pharmacist will counsel patients, verify medication orders, and participate in quality improvement activities. Clinical and administrative responsibilities include medication management, policy formulation, and collaboration with healthcare staff. The role involves working in pharmacy-run clinics and may include supervising support personnel. This is a temporary travel assignment in Sitka, Alaska, with the start date of 09/21/2026.
