Description
Job Summary:
Pathology Assistant located in Brooklyn, New York. This role involves processing and documenting specimens under the supervision of a licensed physician practicing anatomic pathology. The position requires preparing tissue samples, assisting with autopsies, maintaining laboratory organization, and ensuring compliance with operational standards to support effective pathological services.
Job Details:
- Schedule: Days shift, 7.5 hours per day, minimum of 37.5 hours per week
- Required Qualifications: At least 2 years of experience specifically in acute care grossing specimens and performing autopsies; valid New York State license and current registration to practice as a Pathologists Assistant issued by the New York State Education Department (NYSED); Bachelors Degree
- Preferred Qualifications: None specified
- Float: Float rotation may be required
- Additional Information: The role involves preparing gross tissue sections, conducting human postmortem examinations, maintaining laboratory inventory, calibrating and troubleshooting medical equipment, and adhering to safety and infection control procedures. Candidates will participate in specimen accessioning, labeling, storage, and reporting; photograph surgical specimens; and analyze data for reports.
