Description
Job Summary:
The Polysomnographer position is located in a sleep center and involves performing diagnostic sleep studies with a focus on polysomnographic testing. The role requires integrating knowledge of anatomy and physiology with sleep/wake pathology to ensure accurate data collection. Exceptional communication skills are essential for patient education, safety, and comfort, as well as for collaborating with physicians. Attention to detail and vigilance are critical to maintain high-quality data and patient safety throughout the testing process.
Job Details:
- Schedule: Nights; 40 hours per week, from 09/07/2026 to 12/05/2026
- Required Qualifications: Associate's degree from an accredited school in Polysomnography, BLS certification from AHA, HSI, or American Red Cross, RPSGT certification, New York state Registered Polysomnographic Technician or Respiratory Therapist license, 2 years of experience
- Preferred Qualifications: None specified
- Additional Information: Performs studies according to American Academy of Sleep Medicine (AASM) guidelines. Monitors patients closely during sleep studies, including Titration and Split night studies. Scores studies in accordance with AASM scoring manual guidelines and completes all scoring promptly. Wakes patients upon completion of data collection and assists with hygiene as needed. Notifies clinical leadership of any unusual situations or adverse changes in patient condition. May assist in training new personnel and performs other duties as assigned.
