Job Summary
MRI Technologist Location: unspecified. This position involves operating magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) equipment to produce detailed cross-sectional images of patients' bodies for diagnostic purposes. The role includes preparing and positioning patients, ensuring safety protocols, and collaborating with healthcare professionals to deliver high-quality imaging services.
Job Details
- Position Description: Operates magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) equipment to produce cross-sectional images of patient bodies for diagnostic purposes.
- Responsibilities:
- Performs MRI examinations according to department policies and protocols.
- Prepares and positions patients for MRI procedures of various parts of the body.
- Sets up equipment such as coils and monitoring devices, and positions patients to obtain the best images.
- Performs Quality Control tests on equipment, reporting discrepancies.
- Collects and evaluates relevant examination information, including screening data.
- Maintains departmental records and patient information in accordance with policies.
- Responds to patient physical and psychological needs, explaining procedures clearly to minimize anxiety.
- Performs safety procedures for outpatients, inpatients, patient families, and staff, screening for metal objects or implants.
- Ensures no patient or visitor enters the scan room with contraindicated metal objects or implants.
- Evaluates scan results for quality and completeness, manipulating images via console to optimize display for physicians.
- Sends images to Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS), assesses exam quality, and verifies timeliness.
- Develops proficiency with PACS capabilities.
- Maintains accurate documentation and records charges and supplies used.
- Seeks guidance when protocols or policies are unclear.
- Exercises independent judgment in planning procedures and troubleshooting.
- Collaborates directly with patients, internal staff, and external healthcare providers.
- Required Qualifications: Certification from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT-R) or the American Registry of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologists (ARMRIT); completion of an accredited Radiologic Technology or MRI program; BLS certification; 0 to 6 months of related experience; knowledge of anatomy and physiology; ability to organize and prioritize work.
- Schedule: Evening shifts, 10 hours per shift, minimum 40 hours per week.
- Additional Information: Position starts on 09/28/2026 and ends on 12/26/2026.
