Job Summary
Respiratory Therapist Registered (RT PEDS) The organization is seeking a dedicated Respiratory Therapist for a pediatric specialty at a healthcare facility. The position involves providing assessment, therapeutic intervention, and patient education for cardiopulmonary disorders, with a focus on NICU and PICU patient populations. This role requires handling high-frequency ventilation, nitric oxide therapy, and managing ventilators down to micro preemies in a level 4 NICU environment.
Job Details
- Position Description: The scope of work includes respiratory therapy assessments, arterial punctures, blood gas analysis, ventilator management, medication delivery, airway clearance, intubations, tracheostomy changes, decannulation, extubations, emergency response, ICU rounds, patient transport, and high-risk deliveries.
- Certifications: BLS (AHA), ND license (NDSBRC), PALS, NRP required; ACLS preferred.
- Education and Experience: Minimum of 2 years of recent experience in NICU, PICU, or adult critical care.
- Schedule: Rotating shifts, every other weekend, holidays, with 8- and 12-hour shifts. Willing to consider weekend or straight night shifts. Staff will not work alone; shifts include a charge nurse and multiple RTs.
- Additional Responsibilities: Ability to work independently and in a team, manage rapid patient condition changes, communicate effectively within a fast-paced environment, and participate in training and orientation programs including lab orientation and preceptor shifts.
- Work Environment: The position involves inpatient respiratory care at a facility with over 394 beds, including a level IV NICU, adult ICU, pediatrics, and emergency care units.
- Licensing: ND state license required or willing to apply within 72 hours of acceptance.
- Skills: Ventilator management, NICU/PICU experience, high-frequency ventilation, nitric oxide therapy, and proficiency with inpatient critical care equipment.
- Additional notes: All clinicians must badge in and out at the facility and adhere to scrub color codes. Candidates with prior employment at Sanford Health must have end dates at least 6 months before submitting.
