Job Summary
Respiratory Therapist (RT PEDS) Location: Templeton. This position involves providing basic and critical respiratory care services for adult and geriatric patients, including those with respiratory diseases, in accordance with department policies. The role also involves documentation, patient education, and assisting with specialized procedures to support optimal respiratory health.
Job Details
- Position Description: Performs basic and critical respiratory care services, providing respiratory care for patients with respiratory disease as ordered by the physician and in accordance with current department policies.
- Education and Work Experience: Bachelors Degree or equivalent (some certifications will require Bachelors), Master's Degree preferred, three years' technical experience preferred, registered respiratory therapist (NBRC-RRT) or Certified Respiratory Therapist (NBRC-CRT) credential required in California, Oregon, and Hawaii, respiratory care practitioner (RCP) license required in California, Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required, Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification preferred, Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification required, Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification required, Pediatric Emergency Assessment, Recognition and Stabilization (PEARS) certification preferred, registered or certified by the National Board of Respiratory Care required, facility-specific Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required, and AHA-ACLS or ARC-ALS certification required.
- Schedule: Night shift, 12-hour shifts, minimum of 36 hours per week.
- Additional Information: Assesses and documents therapy appropriateness, administers aerosol and oxygen therapy, draws arterial blood gases, provides care to ventilator patients, participates in training, maintains records, instructs nursing personnel, performs pulmonary function tests, and assists with equipment management. Ensures compliance with ventilator and VAP bundles, updates diagnostic information, and assists with specialty procedures such as bronchoscopies. Keeps respiratory equipment clean and ready for use, and assists in quality control, staff scheduling, and competencies.
