Job Summary
Maternal Fetal Medicine (MFM) Sonographer position available in the Fetal Medicine specialty. Located at the organizations healthcare facility, this role involves performing advanced obstetric ultrasound examinations, supporting invasive procedures such as amniocentesis and chorionic villus sampling (CVS), and collaborating with physicians to ensure accurate diagnosis and patient care in a high-risk obstetrics setting.

Job Details

• Certifications, Education Requirements, Degree Requirements, Location Requirements, and Years of Experience: Completion of an accredited Diagnostic Medical Sonography program through the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health/Education Programs (CAAHEP); American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (OB/GYN); ARDMS Fetal Echocardiography (FE) registry; 0 years of experience required.
• Schedule: Days shift; 8-hour shifts; minimum of 40 hours per week.
• Essential Job Functions: Perform high-risk obstetric ultrasound studies according to established protocols. Assist physicians with invasive obstetric procedures such as amniocentesis and CVS. Import images and clinical data into patient record systems, evaluate fetal anatomy, growth, and well-being; identify abnormal findings and obtain additional images as directed. Provide patient education and support before, during, and after procedures. Maintain examination rooms, ensuring cleanliness and supply readiness. Perform high-level disinfection (HLD) of ultrasound transducers per infection control standards. Collaborate with clinical staff to ensure coordinated patient care. Participate in quality improvement initiatives and departmental process improvements. Mentor and support new sonographers and students in the Maternal Fetal Medicine setting.
• Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Demonstrates sound judgment, patience, and maintains a professional demeanor. Exercises tact, discretion, and confidentiality. Performs well in busy and stressful environments. Learns new computer applications and office equipment utilized in the department. Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills. Analyzes, organizes, and prioritizes work while meeting multiple deadlines.
• Schedule Requirements: This role requires regular and sustained attendance. The position may necessitate working beyond a standard 40-hour workweek, including weekends and after-hours shifts. On-call work may be required to respond promptly to organizational, patient, or staff needs.
• Additional Information: Facility reserves the right to cancel three (3) shifts per 13-week contract in the event of low census or unforeseen circumstances. Traveler must live at least 90 miles away from the facility to be considered.
