Description
Job Summary:
Respiratory Therapist, Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at a healthcare facility in California. This position involves providing specialized respiratory care to pediatric patients in the intensive care setting, with protocols aligned with Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) and Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) standards. The role requires administering a variety of diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, documenting patient care, and collaborating with the care team to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
Job Details:
- Schedule: Days shift, 12 hours per shift, minimum of 36 hours per week.
- Required Qualifications: California Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCB) license, Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) through the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC), BLS, PALS, ACLS, and NRP certifications; Bachelors degree in respiratory therapy or related field; minimum of 1 year of experience in pediatric and pediatric intensive care environments; experience with pediatric and neonatal respiratory procedures; familiarity with electronic medical records, preferably EPIC; valid healthcare licensing and certifications.
- Preferred Qualifications: Experience in Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU); additional pediatric certifications; experience performing blood gases, pulmonary function tests, transcutaneous monitoring, and advanced mechanical ventilation techniques.
- Additional Information: The role involves administering inhaled specialty gases such as heliox and inhaled nitric oxide, performing basic and complex respiratory assessments, and documenting age-specific care plans. Candidates should be knowledgeable about pediatric respiratory protocols and procedures tailored to different age groups.
