Job Summary
Respiratory Therapist Registered (RT PEDS) Ukiah, CA. This position involves performing basic and critical respiratory care services for adult and geriatric patients, including those with respiratory diseases, in a healthcare facility setting. The role requires working independently as well as supervising others when delegated, with an emphasis on providing safe and effective respiratory therapy as ordered by physicians.
Job Details
- Position Description: Performs basic and critical respiratory care services, providing care for adult and geriatric patients with respiratory conditions, including ventilator management, pulmonary function testing, and arterial blood gases. Ensures documentation, medical records, and charges are accurately completed.
- Education and Work Experience: Bachelors Degree or equivalent (some certifications require a Bachelors); Masters Degree preferred; three years technical experience preferred; requires NBRC-RRT or NBRC-CRT credential; valid respiratory care practitioner license in CA; CPR/BLS certification; ACLS certification; PEARS preferred.
- Licenses/Certifications: Valid NBRC-RRT or NBRC-CRT credential (required in CA, OR, and HI), valid respiratory care practitioner license in CA, and current BLS, ACLS, NRP, PALS certifications per hospital policy.
- Schedule: Rotating shift, 12 hours per shift, minimum 36 hours per week.
- Additional Information: Assesses and documents prescribed therapy, administers aerosol and oxygen therapy, draws arterial blood gases, provides care to ventilator patients, and assists in department record-keeping. Performs pulmonary function tests, manages equipment, and trains staff on respiratory procedures. Ensures compliance with ventilator and VAP bundle guidelines, updates diagnosis based on patient condition, and supports patient and family education. Assists with equipment maintenance and special procedures such as bronchoscopies. Maintains safe practices and documentation standards.
