Job Summary

Respiratory Therapist (RT PEDS) Location unspecified. This position involves providing specialized respiratory care for pediatric patients within a healthcare facility. The incumbent will perform procedures including vent management, bedside diagnostics, and patient education, working collaboratively within a team to ensure quality care.

Job Details

  • Qualifications & Skills: Graduate of AMA-approved school of Respiratory Therapy; Registered Respiratory Therapist by the NBRC; BLS required on hire; ACLS to be obtained within 6 months of hire; current knowledge of intensive care and neonatal intensive care including EKG, ABG, spirometry, and oximetry; strong communication skills, patience, and problem-solving abilities; ability to work collaboratively and with minimal supervision.
  • Schedule: Days shift, 12-hour shifts, minimum of 36 hours per week.
  • Responsibilities: Examine and treat patients with breathing or cardiopulmonary disorders per physician order; administer oxygen therapy, aerosol medications, and chest physiotherapy; monitor and record treatment progress; educate patients on respiratory disorders and medication use; draw arterial blood gas samples; manage medical gases, humidification systems, and ventilator support; perform CPR, airway management, and assist with intubation/tracheotomy; proficient with all modes of ventilation used at the facility; utilize non-invasive therapies such as CPAP and BIPAP; perform diagnostic testing including Pulmonary Function Testing, Electrocardiograms, Electroencephalograms, and Home sleep testing; share workload across inpatient and outpatient settings, working extended shifts and taking after-hours call including weekends and holidays as needed.
  • Additional Information: Must be willing to learn and become competent in diagnostic areas related to respiratory care.
