Description
Job Summary:
Polysomnographer for a location in need of a dedicated sleep technology specialist. This role involves independently performing diagnostic sleep monitoring studies, including home sleep tests, to support clinicians in patient diagnosis, treatment, and monitoring. The position requires a thorough understanding of sleep physiology, technical expertise in sleep monitoring equipment, and the ability to analyze sleep data accurately.
Job Details:
- Schedule: Night shift, 12 hours per shift, minimum of 36 hours per week.
- Required Qualifications: High school diploma or GED; Registry by the Board of Polysomnographic Technologists or passing the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) as a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT); clinical experience of at least 3 years specializing in sleep disorders testing; proficient in sleep testing equipment and theory, sleep/wake cycle and pathologies, EEG theory relevant to sleep monitoring, and cardiopulmonary physiology during sleep. Must possess critical thinking, problem-solving, and effective communication skills.
- Preferred Qualifications: Additional related education or experience is advantageous.
- Additional Information: This role involves obtaining artifact-free sleep tracings, analyzing various sleep records, troubleshooting equipment, reviewing pertinent medical histories, and ensuring quality assurance standards. The technician may assist with department policies, testing procedures, staff training, and conducting educational sessions.
