Job Summary:
Respiratory Therapist (RT) specializing in Pediatrics (PEDS) is needed at a healthcare facility located in a scenic area known for its outdoor activities and small-town community. The role involves providing essential respiratory care services to adult and geriatric patients, with a focus on pediatric care. The therapist will work independently and may supervise others, ensuring the highest standards of patient care in accordance with department policies and physician orders.
Job Details:
- Schedule: Day shift, 12 hours per shift, minimum of 48 hours per week, starting 09/28/2026 and ending 12/27/2026.
- Required Qualifications: Bachelors Degree or equivalent (some certifications will require Bachelors); Masters Degree preferred. Three years' technical experience preferred. Licenses and certifications include: Registered Respiratory Therapist (NBRC-RRT) credential or Certified Respiratory Therapist (NBRC-CRT) credential; Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) license; Basic Life Support (BLS) certification; Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification; Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification; Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification; Pediatric Emergency Assessment, Recognition, and Stabilization (PEARS) certification. All certifications must be from approved vendors as per department policy.
- Preferred Qualifications: Experience in pediatric respiratory care; additional certifications such as Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), and PEARS are preferred.
- Essential Functions: Assess and document prescribed respiratory therapy, administer aerosol and oxygen therapy, draw arterial blood gases, care for ventilator patients, perform pulmonary function tests, and provide patient and family education. Monitor and maintain respiratory equipment, assist with specialty procedures like bronchoscopies, and ensure compliance with ventilator and infection prevention bundles. Provide guidance to nursing staff and contribute to quality control and staff training.
- Additional Information: Must have Epic electronic medical records experience. The role may involve floating to other units as needed, specifically to a nearby facility. Must have at least 2 years of critical care experience and must be fully vaccinated per organizational policy.
