Description

Job Summary:
The Ultrasonographer General position is located in an outpatient setting. This role involves performing diagnostic ultrasound procedures to assist physicians in patient diagnosis and treatment. The Ultrasonographer will be responsible for explaining procedures, preparing patients, selecting appropriate equipment, and producing accurate ultrasound images while ensuring patient comfort and safety.

Job Details:

  • Perform diagnostic ultrasound procedures such as gallbladders, abdomens, pelvis, obstetric (O.B.) exams, biopsies, and others.
  • Care for patients during procedures by assisting them with restroom needs, providing blankets, and preparing them for examinations.
  • Report any changes in the patient's condition to the appropriate team members for follow-up.
  • Produce quality ultrasound exams with accurate and comprehensive documentation.
  • Collaborate with Radiologists on ultrasound studies requiring review.
  • Transport patients using stretcher, bed, wheelchair, or walking, providing care during transportation and within the department if needed.
  • Assist patients with lifting and repositioning on exam tables and provide necessary comfort measures such as bedpans and urinals.
  • Report equipment malfunctions and assist colleagues with related duties and special assignments.
  • Maintain a clean work area and replenish supplies as necessary.
  • Perform emergency medical treatment under physician supervision.
  • Assist with scheduling patient exams and attend department meetings and in-services.
  • Adhere to scheduled shift of 8 hours during daytime hours, with a minimum of 40 hours per week.
  • Submit application with current RDMS certification in at least one specialty area (Abdominal, Vascular, or Obstetrical), current BLS certification, and completion of an accredited ultrasound training program.
  • Experience required: At least two (2) years as a licensed Sonographer, with epic experience of six (6) to twelve (12) months within the past year.
  • Additional skills include knowledge of diagnostic ultrasound procedures, ultrasound equipment, patient care, patient preparation, transducer use, and Epic system familiarity.
