Job Summary:
Pathology Assistant, PA Specialty, location not specified. This role involves performing specimen preparation for histology, managing specimen collection from surgical locations, and assisting pathologists. The position supports quality assurance and participates in training new personnel to ensure efficient laboratory operations.

Job Details:

• Certifications, Education Requirements, Degree Requirements, Location Requirements, and Years of Experience: 0 years minimum experience required.
• Schedule: Days shift, 8 hours per day, minimum of 40 hours per week.
• Performs work accurately and completely when preparing specimens for histology, including obtaining schedules, picking up specimens, and opening surgical and Cytology specimens.
• Completes duties such as ordering tests, printing labels, cassetting specimens, generating worklists, and packaging samples.
• Assists pathologists and participates in training new personnel.
• Completes preventive maintenance, monitors inventory, disposes of biohazard waste, and washes glassware as needed.
• Answers phones promptly and routes calls appropriately.
• Participates in quality assurance and records documentation for internal routing and quality control.
• Attends procedures and prepares smears for fine needle aspirations performed by radiologists, as appropriate.
• Reconcilesthe billing for miscellaneous charges on patient accounts, as appropriate.
