Histologist, Histology Reno, NV
This position involves performing histological procedures and supporting laboratory operations within a busy Level II trauma center. The role requires assisting with specimen processing, staining, and maintenance of histology instrumentation, supporting pathology activities, and ensuring high-quality slide preparation in a fast-paced environment.

Job Details

• Certifications: Nevada Laboratory Assistant license, Nevada Histologic Technician license. Histologic Technician Certification (preferred).
• Education & Experience: 3 years of experience as a Clinical Laboratory Assistant in Histology or a Clinical Laboratory Histology Technician (preferred). Prior travel experience required.
• Responsibilities: Delegated histological procedures on tissue, fluids, and bone marrow; specimen grossing, embedding, microtomy, staining (Hematoxylin and Eosin and special stains); slide quality checks; operation and maintenance of histology equipment; accessioning; charting; assisting with bone marrow biopsies and aspirations, and other special procedures. Support for immunohistochemical staining, QC, and reagent lot management are included.
• Additional duties may include all clinical lab assistant activities such as filing, frozen section maintenance, cytology prep, and clerical tasks.
• Schedule: Nights, 8-hour shifts, with at least 40 hours per week. Workdays include Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday, from 8:00 PM to 6:30 AM.
• Float: Float rotation may be required.
• Submission Requirements: Candidates must be able to perform delegated histological procedures, maintain safety standards, and communicate effectively within a diverse patient and staff population.
