Job Summary
Respiratory Therapist Registered (RRT) [Location]. This position involves providing respiratory therapy services and life support to patients with cardiopulmonary deficiencies under the general direction of a physician. The role includes assessment, equipment operation, patient monitoring, and collaboration with healthcare providers to ensure optimal patient outcomes.

Job Details

• Required Qualifications: Graduate of a CoARC (Committee on Accreditation for Respiratory Care) approved Respiratory therapist program; 2 years of clinical experience; current state license (PA Act 31, PA Act 33, PA Act 34, PA Act 73); Basic Life Support (BLS) certification; Registered Respiratory Therapist (RTT); NRP may be required for certain facilities.
• Schedule: Rotating shift, 12-hour shifts, minimum of 36 hours per week.
• Performs reading of prescriptions, arterial blood gases, and review of patient information to assess treatment needs.
• Determines most suitable method of administering inhalants and medication dosages as prescribed by the physician.
• Evaluates medical orders for appropriateness and interprets clinical data to meet treatment objectives.
• Sets up and operates respiratory devices, monitors equipment function, and adjusts settings to optimize therapy.
• Monitors physiological responses including vital signs, arterial blood gases, and blood chemistry changes.
• Performs pulmonary function tests and assists with breathing exercises and bronchopulmonary drainage.
• Maintains accurate patient charts with pertinent therapy information.
• Assists in transporting mechanically ventilated patients and responds to all code situations.
• Additional responsibilities include equipment inspection, testing, and ensuring safety and efficiency standards are met.
• Additional Information: Responsible for responding to emergencies and performing other duties as assigned, in accordance with system-wide competencies and behaviors.
