Job Summary

The role requires applying technical judgment to obtain high-quality studies, positioning patients, and ensuring safety and accuracy throughout the imaging process.

Job Details

• Performs MRI imaging procedures, including patient positioning and coil placement to optimize image quality.
• Provides patient education about the imaging process, including relevant instructions.
• Reviews all patient safety questionnaires before imaging to ensure safety protocols are followed.
• Labels all MRI images correctly as per department standard operating procedures (SOP).
• Evaluates images for technical acceptability and ensures timely transmission to Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS).
• Ensures all studies are completed and accurately recorded in the Radiology Information System (IDX).
• Maintains cleanliness and organization of the MRI environment, including equipment and supplies.
• Records patient-related data into the Radiology Information System accurately.
• Schedules exams into the Radiology Information System as required.
• Reports equipment issues or unsafe conditions to facility management.
• Provides assistance to physicians during procedures as necessary.
• Calls inpatients for scheduled procedures.
• Performs related clerical duties in support of imaging operations.
• Adheres to safety standards to prevent ferromagnetic materials from entering the MRI scan room and manages infection control protocols.
• Attends professional development sessions and compliance training as required.
• Maintains licensure and certification, including adherence to state regulations and radiologic technologist standards.
• Experience with Breast MRI and MRI biopsy procedures preferred.
• Requires strong knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy, physics, and MRI technology.
• Certification in MRI from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) and New York State licensure are required.
• BLS certification is mandatory.
• Schedule: Days, Monday-Friday, 8:00 am - 4:00 pm, 37.5 hours per week.
