Respiratory Therapist specializing in pediatric care (RT PEDS) is based in the healthcare facility. This role involves providing high-quality respiratory support and patient transport, evaluating treatment plans, and educating patients about procedures and equipment. The position requires delivering both routine and complex respiratory treatments within the scope of licensure.
Job Details
- Position: Respiratory Therapist (RT PEDS) Respiratory Therapist Registered
- Location: the healthcare facility
- Schedule: Days shift, 12 hours per shift, minimum of 36 hours per week
- Certifications and Education Requirements: Current VA license; additional certifications as required for respiratory therapy
- Years of Experience: 0 years required
- Additional Responsibilities:
- Providing intensive respiratory care, including operating ventilatory equipment, oxygen, aerosol, and nebulizer devices
- Performing chest physiotherapy, suctioning, and monitoring with oximetry and capnography
- Conducting routine review of chest x-rays and performing pulmonary function tests
- Assisting with procedures such as bronchoscopy, chest tube placement, and tracheostomy care
- Performing arterial punctures, EKGs, and arrhythmia recognition
- Operating and maintaining mechanical ventilation equipment and ensuring proper documentation
- Performing CPR following BLS and ACLS guidelines
- Ensuring proper functioning of all respiratory equipment and assisting with preventative maintenance
- Communicating patient responses and treatment outcomes during shift hand-offs
- Recording all treatment and patient response data accurately
