Job Summary
Respiratory Therapist, Registered (RT PEDS) Located at the healthcare facility, this role involves delivering advanced respiratory care in a pediatric and neonatal setting. The position requires performing airway management, mechanical ventilator management, oxygen therapy, aerosol therapy, and various respiratory procedures, including advanced practices such as Pulmonary Function Testing and ECMO support, under department protocols.

Job Details

• Schedule: Days shift, 12 hours, with a minimum of 36 hours per week.
• Required Qualifications: Graduation from an accredited Respiratory Therapy program; current certification as a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) by the National Board of Respiratory Care; ability to read, analyze, and interpret clinical information and technical procedures; effective communication skills; two (2) years of experience as a Respiratory Therapist; ability to document clinical information; and ability to effectively respond to questions from patients, physicians, family members, and staff.

• Additional Responsibilities: Administers respiratory care procedures such as aerosol medication delivery, arterial punctures, airway aspiration, tracheostomy care and tube changes, endotracheal intubations and extubations, manages ventilator settings including specialized modes, and performs pulmonary function testing. May transport pediatric and neonatal patients per UNC Air Care Protocol, perform advanced practice procedures, and manage extracorporeal circulation support as needed.
• Certifications: Current certification as a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) by the NBRC, along with other certifications such as ACLS, NRP, PALS, or an advanced practice certificate to administer moderate sedation, are required and must be maintained.
