This role involves education for discharge and collaboration with medical staff to ensure optimal respiratory services.

Job Details

• Position Description: Respiratory Therapist providing quality patient care, including intensive respiratory therapy and patient transport, within the scope of professional license and with minimal supervision. Evaluates patient and recommends treatment plans; explains procedures and provides patient education at discharge.
• Conducts physician-prescribed treatments using various ventilatory equipment, oxygen and aerosol devices, and nebulizers to administer medications, humidification, ventilation, and oxygenation.
• Performs chest physiotherapy, suctioning, oximetry, capnography monitoring, and routine chest x-ray reviews.
• Performs 12-Lead EKG, basic arrhythmia recognition, and pulmonary function studies such as NIF and VC.
• Assists with procedures related to respiratory care, including bronchoscopy, Perc Trachs, and chest tube placement.
• Performs tracheostomy care, including insertion and removal of tracheostomy tubes, according to policy.
• Performs arterial puncture, monitors ventilation efficiency, and reports test results.
• Follows laboratory testing protocols, handles specimens, and maintains equipment.
• Performs CPR according to BLS and ACLS guidelines.
• Inserts and removes endotracheal tubes using appropriate techniques, operates ventilatory equipment, and ensures preventive maintenance.
• Records treatment data, monitors patient response, and communicates with medical staff regarding therapy effectiveness.
• Maintains respiratory therapy records and ensures accurate charging.
• Required Qualifications: Certifications in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), current Respiratory Therapist registration, valid license, and no minimum experience required.
• Schedule: Night shifts, 12 hours per shift, minimum of 36 hours per week.
• Additional Information: Performs comprehensive respiratory care, operates ventilatory and monitoring equipment, assists with procedures, and maintains accurate documentation in a clinical setting.
