Job Summary
Respiratory Therapist Registered RT PEDS Location unspecified. This position involves providing advanced respiratory care for pediatric and neonatal patients. The Respiratory Therapist demonstrates expertise in airway management, mechanical ventilator management, oxygen therapy, and other respiratory procedures, often working independently to deliver competent patient care in accordance with organizational policies and protocols.

Job Details

• Qualifications: Graduation from an accredited Respiratory Therapy program; current certification as a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RT RRT) by the National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC); Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; at least one year of experience as a Respiratory Therapist.
• Schedule: Days shift, 12 hours per shift, minimum of 36 hours per week.
• Responsibilities:
  • Administer standard respiratory care including aerosol medication delivery, oxygen therapy, and arterial punctures.
  • Manage airway care, including endotracheal intubations, extubations, tracheostomy care, and tracheostomy tube changes.
  • Operate and verify ventilator functions, utilizing specialized modes to tailor treatment plans.
  • Perform pulmonary function testing and breathing exercises.
  • May be involved in transporting pediatric and neonatal patients according to UNC Air Care Protocol.
  • Perform advanced procedures such as UAC, UVC, IV insertion, intraosseous insertion, chest tube insertion, Needle Decompression, and blood glucose monitoring when working with UNC Air Care Protocol.
  • Manage extracorporeal circulation when working with ECMO support.
  • Maintain and improve clinical skills, providing resource support to other staff members.
• Submission Requirements: Comprehensive documentation of certifications and licensing upon application.
• Additional Information: May be required to work on-call days, nights, weekends, and holidays. Minimal supervision required, with independent functioning in clinical situations.
