Job Summary

Ultrasonographer General specializing in Maternal-Fetal Medicine Location not specified. Responsible for independently performing advanced obstetric and gynecologic ultrasound examinations, including detailed fetal assessments, fetal echocardiography, Doppler studies, gynecologic imaging, and ultrasound-guided invasive procedures. The role supports complex diagnostic and therapeutic care, communicates findings to supervising physicians, and provides clinical training to learners and new team members.

Job Details

• Schedule: Day shifts with 10-hour shifts and a minimum of 40 hours per week; the schedule includes four 9-hour shifts and one 4-hour Friday shift.
• Required Qualifications:
  • At least 3 years of experience performing complex obstetric and gynecologic examinations, fetal anatomy scans, Doppler studies, and vascular imaging.
  • Previous Maternal-Fetal Medicine experience.
  • Familiarity with fetal echocardiography, middle cerebral artery Doppler studies, and detailed fetal anatomy.
  • Completion of a Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP)-accredited or non-CAAHEP-accredited Diagnostic Medical Sonography or General Ultrasound program, or an equivalent certificate program. This requirement is waived for individuals who obtained American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) certification before December 2000.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider certification.
  • American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) registration in Obstetrics and Obstetrics and Gynecology.
• Preferred Qualifications:
  • Fetal Echocardiography certification.
  • Ability to provide ultrasound guidance for amniocentesis and chorionic villus sampling.
• Additional Information:
  • Perform comprehensive fetal anatomical surveys, fetal well-being evaluations, biophysical profiles, maternal and fetal Doppler studies, amniotic fluid volume assessments, maternal pelvic imaging, and transvaginal cervical assessments.
  • Perform fetal echocardiography and advanced volume imaging examinations.
  • Support Maternal-Fetal Medicine specialists during invasive diagnostic and therapeutic procedures using real-time ultrasound guidance.
  • Acquire, document, analyze, and communicate high-quality sonographic images, physiological data, and color, power, and spectral Doppler waveforms.
  • Recognize abnormalities and urgent findings requiring immediate physician review or direct visualization.
  • Review patient history, assess contraindications, prepare patients, and communicate examination findings to supervising physicians.
  • Provide hands-on clinical training and support to residents, fellows, ultrasound students, medical students, and advanced practice provider trainees.
  • Support onboarding and standardization efforts as requested.
