Sonoma, CA
About
The City of Sonoma lies at the heart of California wine country, just an hour northeast of San Francisco. While it offers an excellent base for touring and tasting, visitors and locals also enjoy its historic charm. Founded in the 19th century, Sonoma has a colonial past that becomes evident in the town center, home to the Sonoma Mission and 19th-century adobes. The surrounding streets are lined with dozens of shops, tasting rooms and world-class restaurants. Nearby Bartholomew Memorial Park hosts Bartholomew Park Winery, which includes a museum detailing the history of Sonoma winemaking. With nearly 80 acres of city parks, scenic open space and miles of trails, outdoor enthusiasts find tons of opportunities for hiking and biking. If paddling is what you're after, canoeing, kayaking and standup paddleboarding are possible in San Pablo Bay and the many lakes and rivers throughout the area.
