Description

Duties: Radiation Therapists use ionizing-radiation producing equipment to administer therapeutic doses of radiation as prescribed by physicians for treatment of disease – generally cancer. A Radiation Therapist exposes specific areas of the patient's body to prescribed doses of radiation. Maintain detailed records of all therapy sessions, noting in the patient's chart such information as the area treated, the radiation dosage, equipment control settings, the patient's reactions, and the total amount of radiation received to date. Requires graduation from an accredited radiation therapy program, American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (A.R.R.T) registry or registry eligibility in radiation therapy technology, and licensed by the State Department of Health Services. A Radiation Therapist must be familiar with the standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the field of Radiation Therapy.

Education: Education: Graduate from an accredited school of Radiation Therapy.

Licensure/Certifications: Must hold a current State of California license in Radiation Therapy Technology (CRT-Therapy). Must hold a current license with the American Registry of Radiation Technologists (ARRT). Completion of annual requirements of NorthBay Healthcare, including: AHA or equivalent Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. "Education: Graduate from an accredited school of Radiation Therapy.
