Ophthalmology: Cataracts with use of microscope and phaco machine
Podiatry: similar to sports medicine, some open many endoscopic procedures
We do not currently do OBGYN, GYN, Vascular, Cardio thoracic, organ transplant
The best candidates have worked at small community hospital settings, with call experience, and they could potentially be called in for any of the above service lines and on call they are the only OR RN on site, unlike other areas clinical leads while helpful for organizational processes, are unfamiliar with the operating room nurse skill set.
GI experience for an OR RN is a perk not requirement. And Ophthalmology experience is usually one of which we do not find as most eye surgeons have designated “eye teams”, because we do fairly basic procedures at this time in ophthalmology we can cross train fairly easily. To have an OR RN up inrunning with 3 days of orientation, they truly need to have some experience in the rest The equipment used in each service line is pretty unique to each service line. They do not need to be and expert in all, but some familiarity is a mustEmployer
