Job Description:

The Registered Nurse in the Emergency Room is responsible for providing direct patient care, participating in education, and offering support throughout the patient care continuum in a Level 2 trauma center. The role includes the assessment and prioritization of patient needs, critical thinking, and effective communication skills.

Responsibilities:

• Provide direct nursing care in accordance with established policies, procedures, and protocols of the healthcare organization.
• Conduct triage and determine level of care based on ESI assessments.
• Collect evidence and interact with sexual assault victims as needed.
• Floating to departments like Med/Surg, PCU, or ICU as a task nurse.

Requirements:

• RN license approved by the South Dakota Board of Nursing.
• BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, TNCC, and PALS certifications are required.
• Minimum of 2 years of ED experience (excluding travel experience) preferred.
• Experience with EPIC charting system preferred.
• Experience with trauma, cardiac care, and patient triage assessments.
