Job Description:
Performs imaging examinations on all ages of patients (newborn through geriatric), contributing to the efficient operations of the department and ensuring the quality and continuity of patient care. Uses specific training in imaging modality to provide excellent patient care. Performs responsibilities of receptionist/clerk or other department duties as needed.
Responsibilities:
- Corroborates patient's clinical history with procedure, including appropriate times for follow-up exams.
- Assesses patient condition and ensures safety through proper use of restraints/support devices.
- Prepares patient for procedures and provides instructions to minimize anxiety.
- Demonstrates competency in utilizing all required equipment and accessories.
- Positions patient to best demonstrate anatomic area of interest.
- Performs examinations in an accurate and timely manner, responding to changes in the work schedule.
- Initiates basic life support actions when necessary.
- Assists in maintaining patient records, respecting confidentiality.
- Participates in the department's quality assessment and improvement plan.
- Maintains knowledge of and observes universal precautions.
Requirements:
- Graduate of an accredited Radiology Technologist program with dedicated mammography training preferred.
- Current registration with ARRT (R)(M) or equivalent required.
- Current BLS certification.
- Two years post-graduation experience preferred.
- Initial training in digital mammography and tomosynthesis required.
- Meets current MQSA requirements including 15 breast CEU within 36 months preferred.
- Ability to perform mammography studies including routine screening and specialized diagnostic views preferred.
- Recent x-ray experience preferred, Fuji experience preferred.
