Description

Job Title: Registered Nurse - Labor & Delivery

City/State: Rapid City, South Dakota

Shift: 12 Hour Variable

Contract Length: 12.7 weeks

Start Date: 08/10/2026

Job Description:

The Registered Nurse in the Labor & Delivery unit is responsible for providing care to pregnant patients, from high-risk to low-intervention laboring patients. The unit includes 10 Labor & Delivery beds, 4 OB ED/Triage beds, and 4 Antepartum rooms.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide nursing care for laboring patients, including antepartum, OB triage/ED, postpartum, and infants.
  • Circulate C-sections and provide C-section recovery care.
  • Start IVs, perform cervical checks and phlebotomy, and administer medications such as magnesium sulfate and insulin.
  • Manage high acuity labor patients, including preeclampsia and preterm labor and delivery.

Requirements:

  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license from the South Dakota Board of Nursing.
  • Current BLS and NRP certifications, ACLS preferred.
  • EPIC charting experience and Level 3 or higher Labor & Delivery experience required.
  • Experience in managing normal newborn nursery patients (Level I care) and preferably Level II nursery care.
