Job Description:
The Registered Nurse in the ICU is responsible for providing direct care to patients, coordinating with the healthcare team, and ensuring patient safety and quality care. RNs in this role manage complex patient needs and stabilize them for safe transfer to another level of care or discharge.
Responsibilities:
- Provide direct patient care and monitor patient outcomes in the ICU setting.
- Titrate drips such as cardiac drip, insulin, and sedation as required.
- Read, interpret, and document monitor strips; oversee tele tech monitoring.
- Float to PCU or MedSurg as needed, maintaining appropriate nurse-to-patient ratios.
Requirements:
- BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required.
- Pass/Fail exam during orientation; must achieve a 90% or higher to remain on contract.
- Compliance with jurisdictional fingernail policy (artificial nails prohibited).
