Position Overview
The Registered Nurse (RN) plays a critical role in assessing and addressing the individual physical, psychosocial, and spiritual needs of patients. This position involves patient advocacy, utilizing professional nursing skills, and implementing nursing care effectively.
Responsibilities
- Conduct personal observations and interactions to assess patient needs, acting as a patient advocate.
- Utilize professional nursing skills and judgment to implement care and address identified problems.
- Communicate patient assessments to relevant individuals to ensure coordinated care.
- Demonstrate knowledge of diagnostic measures, including laboratory results, radiology, and EKG, while performing IV therapy.
- Transcribe and implement physicians' orders promptly while ensuring efficient patient admissions to the surgical center.
- Document clinical information accurately and in a timely manner, verifying compliance with required surgical procedures and completing final reviews of patient records.
- Provide comprehensive education and instruction to patients and their families.
- Manage supplies according to policy, utilizing resources effectively to contain costs without compromising patient care.
- Assist with housekeeping duties, including cleaning and making beds for patients as needed.
- In the post-anesthesia care unit (PACU), employ critical thinking to assess and provide appropriate nursing care, maintaining patient airways and monitoring vital signs.
- Utilize knowledge of the transfer processes and procedures for patient transfers to the medical center.
- As a float nurse, maintain communication across departments, assist staff as needed, and relieve staff for breaks in a timely manner.
- Work assigned duties in pain management and eye laser procedure rooms.
- Familiarize and assist with anesthesia supplies and emergency cart location.
- Participate in committee meetings, providing suggestions for improvements and seeking guidance as necessary.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
