Job Description:

The clinical nurse coordinates and performs a variety of nursing care procedures for patients of all ages, requiring professional knowledge and consideration of specific patient conditions and treatments; and the ability to work independently in completing assignments. Guidelines include provider's orders; standards of care, nursing policies and procedures manuals, hospital policies, and nursing duties include support to individuals of all ages and their families.

Responsibilities:

• Promotes safe, therapeutic, and efficient care for patients.
• Sets priorities for care based on patient acuity and preferences.
• Initiates and manages nursing procedures consistent with departmental policy.
• Accurately administers age-specific medications and therapeutics.
• Coordinates patient care activities with physicians and other healthcare team members.
• Takes steps to decrease stress and/or increase effectiveness of patient coping mechanisms.
• Documents patient's responses to care and provides discharge planning.
• Participates in ongoing evaluation and development of patient care standards.

Requirements:

• Must have an active AK License at the time of submission.
• Must have/obtain flu vaccine.
• Willing to work both day and night shifts as necessary.
• Able to float between Med/Surg/ED/ICU as required.
• Two fingerprint cards required upon acceptance.
• Valid, current, full, and unrestricted RN license in the State of Alaska.
• Must have BLS, ACLS, and PALS on hire.
• Oral and written communication skills and ability to enter and retrieve patient data accurately.
• Ability to provide guidance, leadership, and work cooperatively with others.
