Description
Job Description
We are seeking a qualified Registered Nurse (RN) to join our float pool team. This position involves providing high-quality patient care across various units, specifically in MedSurg Tele, PCU, and associated inpatient settings.
Responsibilities
- Deliver comprehensive nursing care to patients, including geriatric and orthopedic populations.
- Monitor and manage patients post-procedurally, including those recovering from cardiac interventions.
- Administer medications and titrate drips as required for patients on Heparin, Cardizem, Amiodarone, Nitro, Dopamine, Dobutamine, and Insulin.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
- Utilize nurse aids effectively to enhance patient care delivery.
- Interpret telemetry strips as part of patient monitoring activities.
Requirements
- At least one year of experience in a PCU setting.
- Current certifications in BLS and ACLS.
- Ability to float between different units as needed, including MedSurg Tele and Stepdown units.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
Unit/Department Information
The float pool covers multiple units across locations, including:
- MedSurg Tele (95 beds divided into four areas)
- PCU (Stepdown unit with 14 rooms, average census of 20)
- East Campus NextCare (10 bed double occupancy)
Nurse-patient ratios are as follows:
- PCU: 1:4
- MedSurg Tele: 1:5-6
Working Conditions
This position operates on a 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM or 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM schedule, with a commitment to weekend shifts every other week. Orientation includes an 8-hour general hospital overview followed by 12-hour shifts in designated units.
Additional Information
Candidates should be flexible with scheduling and aware that they will receive notifications regarding unit assignments two hours before the start of their shift. The dress code requires solid color scrubs, with navy scrubs being aligned to operational guidelines by October.
