Unit Information

• Number of Beds: 16 with 8 hall chairs
• Number of Staff: 6-7 per shift
• Patient Ratios: 1:4, low acuity ESI 4 & 5, may take 6
• Type of Staff:
  • Day Shift: 1 charge, 1 triage, 4-5 nurses (one mid-shift), 1 US, 1-2 techs
  • Night Shift: 1 charge, 1 triage, 4-5 nurses (one mid-shift), US 7pm- MN, 1 tech

General Information

This unit provides emergency care with a focus on delivering timely attention to a variety of patient conditions, achieving high patient satisfaction and employee engagement.

Typical Hiring Profile

• Must Have:
  • Compassion
  • Urgency
  • Teamwork
• Preferred Qualifications:
  • Level II or Level III trauma experience
  • Certifications: TNCC, ENPC or PALS, ACLS, BLS
  • Greater than two years of emergency department experience
  • Additional certifications: CEN or TCRN, CPI

• Assessments and documentation
• Medication administration
• Wound care and splinting
• IVs and urine collection
• Lab draws
• Caring for patients across ESI 5 through 1

Dress Code

Scrub Color: Royal Blue preferred. Seasonal team spirit attire is encouraged, such as wearing team jerseys.

Unit Guidelines/Policies

Shift huddles at 7 am and 7 pm are mandatory for all staff, except when providing critical care. Additionally, EMTALA training is required.
