Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse (RN) to join our team in the Progressive Care Unit (PCU). This role involves providing high-quality care to adult patients with a variety of medical conditions including cardiac, respiratory, and renal issues. A commitment to patient care and teamwork is essential.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care in a fast-paced environment.
• Monitor and assess patient conditions, including vital signs and changes in status.
• Administer medications and titrate drips as required, including Heparin, Nitro, Dopamine, Cardizem, Amiodarone, and Insulin.
• Utilize advanced medical equipment and technology.
• Collaborate with the healthcare team to develop and implement patient-centered care plans.
• Document patient information accurately using the EPIC charting system.
• Participate in unit activities to improve patient experience scores and communication.
• Provide patient education and support to families.
• Float to MedSurg or ICU as needed to manage patient acuity.

Shift and Scheduling

• 12-hour shifts: 0630-1830 and 1830-0630.
• Weekend requirements: Every other weekend.
• Holiday requirements: Minimum of 2 holidays during the contract period.
• Available shifts include both day and night rotations.

Qualifications

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license.
• Certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS.
• Competency in managing arterial lines.
• Ability to read and interpret telemetry strips.
• Successful completion of an open-book skills exam during orientation, with a passing score of 90%.
• No artificial nails allowed for hygiene and patient safety.

Unit Information

• 40-bed unit with an average daily census of 24 patients.
• Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:4-5 on both days and nights.
• Common diagnostics include cardiac, surgical, dialysis, cancer, vascular, sepsis, and stroke patients.
• Support staff available, including nurse aides and patient care techs with a ratio of 1:12.
