Description
Job Summary
The ICU Registered Nurse (RN) provides specialized care to critically ill patients. The ideal candidate will possess a robust skill set in critical care nursing, demonstrating the ability to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care effectively.

Key Responsibilities
- Deliver comprehensive nursing care to patients in the ICU setting.
- Monitor vital signs and patient conditions continuously.
- Administer medications and intravenous therapies, including titration of drips such as vasopressors and sedation medications.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
- Properly document patient care in the electronic health record system.
- Participate in life-saving procedures and interventions as required.
- Assist in the stabilization of patients for transfer to higher-level care if necessary.
- Provide education and support to patients and their families regarding treatment plans and procedures.
Qualifications
- Current RN license.
- Minimum of two years of ICU experience preferred.
- Experience with critical care equipment and procedures, including ventilators and BiPAP.
- Current certifications in BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS required; PALS and TNCC preferred.
- Ability to read and verify telemetry monitoring strips; monitor technicians available for additional support.
Work Environment
- Nurse-to-patient ratios typically range from 1:2 but may stretch to 1:3 depending on circumstances.
- No nurse aides or patient care techs are present; responsibilities focus solely on nursing.
- Hospitalists and intensivists are available on-site 24/7 for critical support.
- Shared resources including respiratory therapy staff and equipment on an as-needed basis.
Schedule
- Shifts are 12 hours, primarily nights.
- Every third weekend is required.
- Orientation includes one shift in the ICU and one shift in the PCU.
Dress Code
Uniform consists of navy blue scrubs.
Additional Information
All artificial nails are prohibited in departments providing patient care. Compliance with the fingernail policy is mandatory. RTO must be provided upfront, and additional requests will not be approved after submission.
