Job Summary

The registered nurse (RN) is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, evaluating, and supervising individual patient care using the nursing process. This role includes accepting responsibility for directing co-workers and delegating appropriate tasks in the implementation of care. All duties must align with established organizational policies, procedures, and guidelines.

Job Qualifications

• Education: Completion of an accredited nursing program, resulting in one of the following:
  • Diploma in Nursing
  • Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN)
• Licensure/Certification: Valid license to practice in the State of Ohio. CPR certification is required.
• Experience: Previous registered nursing experience is preferred.

Essential Job Functions

• Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care for each patient, ensuring adherence to the nursing process.
• Provide quality care based on assessment needs and the established plan of care.
• Educate patients and families/significant others from admission through discharge.
• Document the nursing process accurately and legibly.
• Notify physicians of significant observations and changes in patient status.
• Administer medications and perform treatments accurately and safely.
• Implement physician orders as prescribed.
• Ensure availability of equipment and supplies for patient care while reporting any malfunctions to the appropriate department.

Physical Capacity Demand

This position requires heavy work, involving the exertion of 50 to 100 pounds of force occasionally, 25 to 50 pounds frequently, and 10 to 20 pounds constantly to move objects.

Job Considerations

• Psychological/Mental: Ability to manage emotions and maintain self-control in the workplace, particularly during urgent situations. Competence in empathetically communicating with patients.
• Physiological: May encounter potential exposures related to electrical equipment.
• Cognitive: Requires intact cognitive functions including attention, memory, perception, and thought, with strong observation skills.
